Guten Tag! Jetzt ist Spargel Zeit! (It’s Asparagus Time).
White asparagus is one of my favourite. White asparagus comes from the process of etiolation which is the deprivation of sunlight. Soil is kept mounded around the merging stalk, depriving it of light. The plant cannot produce chlorophyll without light, thus there is no green color to the stalks. Furthermore they are considered to be slightly milder in flavour and a bit more tender then the green ones.
It’s a very popular late spring/early summer dish in Germany! The asparagus is usually boiled, drizzled with either hollandaise sauce or melted butter without compromising the orginal freshness and texture of the asparagus.
You can eat it plain or pair it with cured ham, smoked salmon, boiled potatoes sprinkled with freshly cut parsley and sliced boiled eggs. But most importantly in my opinion one must have a pint or two of Maibock beer to round up this delectable meal! Proßt!

Thai cuisine is one of my favourite and also one I can never get tired of.
Imagine my delight when I found one around my neighborhood. We use to frequent the place once a week for Mookata (means “pan pork” in Thai; is a style of Thai Steamboat originating from Chiang Mai) now we have cut it down to fortnightly.
The meats are seasoned with their special sauce and taste delicious! The soup broth tastes even more heavenly when the juices from the meat we cook trickles and mixes into the soup.
Each platter set cost SGD28 for 3pax (consisting of chicken, pork, fish balls, hot dogs, crab sticks, Tang Hoon, prawns, squid, tofu, liver, veggies and egg), you can add/top-up additional items when you have more people or just feel like eating more.
The most important item to me is the chilli! It has to be fragrant, tasty and SPICY providing an “ummph” factor. Their chilli definitely meets all the above requirement.

The other dishes I had tried were…

Tom Yum Soup – SGD 5, Stir Fry Minced Meat with Basil Leaf and sunny side up SGD 4.50
All were equally sumptious. I categorize them as my go-to “happy food” – I always feel contented and happy after eating.
