Poonnatasha – Dance to Dream, Dream to Dance

Hey lovelies!

Dancing has always been a passion for Natasha. To me she has the talent too!

When she was 8 years old she signed up for her school Talentime, she came up with her own choreograph and performed ‘Price Tag by Jessie J’. She has no background in dancing or anyone to guide her on dance moves. I feel very proud of her she was brave enough to go up stage to perform infront of the whole school.

She loves watching movies which has a dance theme, no prizes for guessing what her favourite movie is – Step up. Yes she caught all 5 films.

I’m the type of mother who doesn’t believe in forcing my child to take up an extra curricular activity or to cultivate one. To me its all about whether she is interested or not. No point forcing her to pick up an activity she has zero interest, this will end up being a chore.

Mid this year she suddenly told me she wants to learn dancing the proper way. She did her own research and signed up at Step Studio for ‘Waacking’ & ‘Popping’ dance classes. Natasha had so much fun during the course, she always looks forward to her next class. The teachers are really passionate, patient and attentive. That is what fuels her too.

Seeing her enjoying herself so much and having so much fun makes me smile and feel happy for her. So when she asked if she could take up personal 1-1 classes for street jazz I agreed without hesitation even though knowing its not going to be cheap. Studies are already so stressful, dancing is her way of destressing and meditation.

Dancing causes a natural high. With the right beat and the right people a good dance can take you right to the top.

Yes she still has a long way to go before mastering the moves, but behind every young child who believes in herself is a parent who believed FIRST.

Date Night – Red & White Party

Hi Lovelies!

For date night last week we attended the Red & White Party hosted by Mediacorp to celebrate all things uniquely Singaporean in conjunction with Singapore’s Birthday next week on 9 August.

We had loads of fun from dancing to taking photos at the photobooth, meeting the cast from Tanglin, the DJs from Class 95 and Gold90.5. I even manage to catch up with a friend whom I have not met for years. Unexpectedly formed new friendship with a bunch of lovely and fun ladies!

Sunday Morning Date

Hi Lovelies!

Have a new routine on Sundays which is bringing my gal for private tuition which last about 2hours so what do we do? My man and I went cafe exploring of course!

Our first exploration led us to Atlas Coffeehouse situated along Bukit Timah Road.

The interior decor is simple yet classy and oozes a zen effect – cement polished finishings on one side and jaggered tiles on the other. Natural daylight spills in from the full height glass windows creating a warm and cozy ambience. Staff are friendly, jovial and the barista is really pretty too (sorry didn’t take a picture of her too shy to do it).

They have a decent selection on the menu and the serving are quite well proportioned.

Sundate

We are both bacon lovers so naturally we chose “BBQ Bacon Baked Beans on Toast” for him and “Buttermilk Waffles with Candied Bacon & Vanilla Ice Cream” for me.

The texture of the waffles reminds me of A&W~ Crispy on the outside moist and fluffy on the inside. The fusion combination of savoury and sweet played out well and had me licking my plate clean.

Absolute satisfaction

We both had cappuccinos and was pleasantly surprised that we had different coffee art isn’t that cool?

I would say this is a good find and I’m definitely coming back again to try out the other waffles combination.

Thank you for reading.

Atlas Coffeehouse is located on 6 Duke’s Road, opens Tue-Sun from 8am to 7pm.

P.S. If you want to get a table go early when we left at 9ish the place was packed to the brim.

I’m an Author!

Happy New Year my lovelies!

Apologies for the long hiatus I was occupied with publishing my very first book, titled “ShenWendys Motivational Guide To Becoming A Yummy Mummy”.

What inspired me to write a book? I have always wanted to write this book for years but kept on putting it off due to the fear of criticism and lack of skills. But with time I overcame by choosing positive and honest people to share my work with.

shenwendys

The book is to motivate mummys to step-out from their comfort zone to embrace life – uncover their hidden beauty and discover fashion as a tool to feel good and look beautiful.  Life isn’t all about kids and family after marriage.

I was surprised that the books sold-out in its first publication. Since then I have received both positive and negative feedback. Either way, the feedback were to me beneficial ~ for me to improve on my shortcomings and enhance my knowledge.

In summary, I couldn’t have done it without the encouragement and support of family, friends and my readers.

Date Night with Mummy Dearest

Bonding With Mummy

‪Keeping up with the demands of being a wife, a mother and a daughter is not easy. I feel like everyone wants a piece of my time. The demands of work and my own family had made it near impossible to go out with Mummy on a one-on-one date.

Invited mum out for dinner at STREAT, a signature event which was part of the Singapore Food Festival. The main draw was of course Celebrity Chef Justin Quek (of Sky on 57 fame) Pop-up Restaurant.

I ordered a 3 course set menu paired with a glass of JQ Poupille 2009 100% Organic Merlot for both of us from Chef Justin’s Pop-up Restaurant.

3-Course Set Menu SGD 35 ~ Pacific Oysters, Australian Dorper Lamb Spare Ribs & Gula Java Crème Brulee

Mummy doesn’t usually drink wine but tonight she did and finished the glass all on her own. The lamb was delicious tender, flavourful and no game odour. Dessert was simply divine with the fusion mix. The price was a steal for a fine dining cuisine!

Halfway throught our meal I looked up and saw Mummy looking at me smiling nostalgically. “It was I who used to be the one asking you to sit and I ordered food for you when you were little”, she said. “Now its my turn to do it for you, all you have to do is relax and enjoy.”, I replied.

Mummy Dearest

During dinner we chatted about the recent activities/events in each other’s life and made plans to do this more often.

As we were leaving Mummy asked me to take a photo of her with the “One Fullerton” backdrop. She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an Angel’s. She said:: “I told my colleagues I was going out with my daughter for dinner here and they were impressed.”

Mummy Dearest Smiling Radiantly

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time:: “I Love You”, and to give our loved ones the time they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than our FAMILY (Father And Mother I Love You). Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till “some other time.”

Time and tide waits for no one.

Punggol Point

Punggol Point has a small stretch of beach, across from it lies Pasir Gudang, Malaysia. The close proximity to Malaysia is unbelievable.

At the jetty we saw lots of people fishing, families having picnics on the grass patch and kids building sandcastles along the beach.

A family adventure at Punggol Point

The water is so clear you could see many crabs scurrying on the sand bed. Natasha got really excited when she saw the crabs and wanted to catch them unfortunately they were too fast to be caught.

Lunch with MeClub

Recently I was invited for a 4-course lunch at ME@OUE with MeClub. It was a relaxed, informal get-together, where we exchange ideas/feedback and a couple of laughs. The session also gave me the opportunity to get to know the crew behind MeClub and fellow MeClub members plus rub-shoulders with the various station DJs.
